Student Internship Program
We offer a robust internship program for undergraduate and graduate students interested in advancing university programs and initiatives to enhance their professional skills. Interns will work on tasks and projects aligned with their interests and often, their educational and career goals.
Our interns bring to their role a variety of skills, experiences, and interests, contributing to Cal Poly's efforts to foster an inclusive climate. They collaborate with multiple campus stakeholders to support campus and community events and provide essential day-to-day support for the Office's operations and core services.
Get Involved as a Student Intern
Ideal candidates would demonstrate a commitment to advancing an equitable campus experience for all Cal Poly students, staff, and faculty, and an interest in receiving professional development in the following specialization areas:
- Event Planning and Campus Outreach
- Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSI) Initiatives
- Black Student Success Initiatives (BSSI)
- Social Media Marketing and Graphic Design
- Website Editing and Management
- BEACoN Research Program Liaison (Separate Application Available Here)
Applicants must be enrolled as a Cal Poly undergraduate or graduate student during AY25–26 and willing to work at least 15 hours per week at a rate of $20 per hour.

Nailah DuBose (she/her/hers)
Office Programs & Initiatives Graduate Assistant
Nailah DuBose is a first-year graduate student in the M.S. Psychology program at Cal Poly. She serves as the Office Programs and Initiatives Graduate Assistant, where she supports event coordination and planning and manages the incredible OUDI intern team. Nailah is passionate about helping others, building communities, and curating spaces & experiences that advance equity and access for all. Her main mission in life is to impact lives one smile at a time.

Cristian Reyes (he/him/él)
Office Programs & Hispanic-Serving Institution Initiatives Graduate Assistant
Cristian Reyes is a second-year graduate student in the Higher Education Counseling and Student Affairs (HECSA) program at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. He serves as the Programs and Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI) Initiatives Graduate Assistant, where he supports equity-driven programming and efforts that advance the university’s HSI mission. As a first-generation Chicano student, Cristian is passionate about educational equity, student success, and fostering inclusive campus environments that affirm diverse identities and experiences.

Issac Enrique Cervantes (he/him/él)
Office Programs & Communications Lead
Issac is in his third and final year pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Graphic Communication, with a concentration in User Experience/User Interface. He is also completing minors in Spanish and Computer Science.
As the Lead Communications Intern, Issac serves as the liaison between the intern team and professional staff on communications-related matters. He manages the office’s website content and collaborates on the production of visual assets for various marketing and communication campaigns.
Outside of OUDI, Issac is a member of Cal Poly’s Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) and a visual communications freelancer.

Alexis Espinoza (he/him/él)
Office Programs & BEACoN Research Program
Alexis is a fourth-year Industrial Technology and Packaging major with a concentration in Industrial Technology. Within OUDI, he serves as a BEACoN Research Program Intern, supporting student engagement and outreach efforts that foster interactive and inclusive experiences across campus.
Outside of OUDI, Alexis is the President of the Latinx Business Student Association, an OCOB Ambassador, and a Dean’s Advisory Council Representative for the Orfalea College of Business. Through these roles, he continues to advance student engagement, professional development, and community-building initiatives.

Ketzali Maciel-Jimenez (she/her/ella)
Office Programs & Hispanic-Serving Institution Initiatives
Ketzali is a second-year transfer student majoring in Business Administration with a concentration in Management and Human Resources. In her role with the Office of University Diversity and Inclusion, she supports Cal Poly’s Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI) initiatives, including Caminos Compartidos, a program that serves and connects Latinx/e first-generation transfer students. She is dedicated to nurturing spaces where students feel a sense of belonging. I want all of my fellow peers to feel welcomed, represented, and celebrated. Beyond her role, she contributes to the HSI Student Advisory Board, Transfer Student Advisory Council, and Latinx Business Student Association.

Amirah Nalani Gutierrez (she/her)
Office Programs & Communications Support
Amirah is a third-year Journalism major from San Diego, concentrating in Public Relations, with minors in Ethnic Studies and Media Arts Society and Technology (MAST). In OUDI she serves as the Communication Support Intern, assisting with marketing and promotional materials for OUDI. She is passionate about providing equitable access to resources to underrepresented communities in higher education and beyond. She is excited to represent the OUDI mission and work alongside the office’s initiative this year.

Aniyah DuBose (she/her/hers)
Office Programs & Black Student Success Initiatives
Aniyah DuBose is an Honors student and second-year pursuing her B.A. in Political Science with a concentration in Socio-Psychology of Crime with a Pre-Law Focus. In her role as an OUDI Student Intern, she supports Black Student Success Initiatives and provides general support for the office. Aniyah is passionate about helping her peers and those around her be successful in undergrad and feel supported. Echoing this, she serves in many lead roles, including Attorneys in the Margin (Founder/President), CLA Student Diversity Committee, Housing Desk Assistant, and Student Campus Organizer for the Central Coast Labor Council.

Dede Onuwaje (she/her/hers)
Office Programs & Black Student Success Initiatives
Dede Onuwaje is a third-year undergraduate student majoring in Ethnic Studies and Communication Studies. In her role as an OUDI Student Intern, she supports Black Student Success Initiatives along with providing general support for the office. Dede’s path has been informed by her lived experiences and dedication to uplifting underserved communities. In her time at Cal Poly, Dede has served as the Student Assistant to the Dean of Diversity and Curriculum for the College of Liberal Arts along with participating and leading in an array of student organizations, such as The CLA Student Diversity Committee, The Majesties dance collective, and the Black Student Union.
