Strategic Goals

Graphic with concentric half circles, Cal Poly AANHPI Initiatives

Process

These goals were developed by our AANHPI Advisory Committee and reviewed and edited by our Faculty Fellows. Units and departments can use these goals to assist them in thinking of actionable ways they can be involved with the greater AANHPI initiatives

Goals:

for both San Luis Obispo and Solano campuses

  1. Better engage AANHPI students across the university, including particularly marginalized ethnic groups that exist within the population, with the goal of increasing sense of belonging and well-being.
  2. Link AANHPI students to faculty, staff, and alumni who represent their diverse identities and/or understand their cultural values to expand on opportunities for professional development, career exploration, and opportunities for resources and funding.
  3. Provide meaningful and increased representation of culturally relevant programming and high impact experiences for AANHPI groups.
  4. Increase curricular coverage and breadth of AANHPI culutrally relevant issues and themes across disciplines.
  5. Increase university-wide knowledge about the strengths and challenges in the student/staff/faculty AANHPI population on both campuses in order to better serve these groups academically and professionally.
  6. Maximize opportunities for dedicated community spaces for the AANHPI student population and greater campus communities, and staffing structures that emphasize growth and retention for positions that serve these populations.
