The Diversity Action Plans

This page describes the Diversity Action planning process and centralizes access to the plans developed by units across the university. These plans challenge units across the university to address issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion within their own purview on campus.

ACADEMIC AFFAIRS AND ASSOCIATED DIVISIONS

Cal Poly’s Academic Affairs and associated divisions have been involved in a Diversity Action Planning process for the past few years. As a part of this project, the Office of University Diversity and Inclusion (OUDI) partnered with the Office of the Provost to lead a collaboration across 13 distinct academic units toward developing alignment and assessing potential beneficial overlap in both goals and metrics related to the plans. Updates to plans will occur regularly and progress is noted by the different divisions on their websites. Continued conversation and collaboration between units will assist with success in this division-wide project.  Click the covers below to see each of the Academic Affairs and Associated Divisions Diversity Action Plans. Alignment Across these Diversity Action Plans

Though each Diversity Action Plan is unique and centered around the culture of its college, unit, or division, there is also some alignment across the plans. Several themes were found across the 13 plans, and these themes are accompanied by shared metrics. For example, recruitment/retention (a commitment to recruit and retain employees who have expertise in and scholarly knowledge of equity-related topics); climate (referencing a goal for an inclusive campus that allows all students to thrive and feel as though they belong); and academic achievement (related to making high impact practices accessible and a timely graduation attainable for all students). The Colleges and the associated academic affairs units and divisions report regularly on progress across these shared metrics.
