Submissions for the Change the Status Quo Conference Now Open
The Center for Service in Action is hosting the 19th annual Change the Status Quo (CSQ) Social Justice Leadership Conference on Saturday, Feb. 27, 2021. This year the conference will be entirely virtual, and aims to empower students to use the Learn by Doing spirit to challenge social norms, ask critical questions, demand solutions and make lasting social change. Through inspiring workshops, other guest speakers, and engaging zoom sessions, students will gain a newfound sense and understanding of social justice and how they can take ownership of their role to advance social change.
This year’s keynote speaker is currently in negotiations having been delayed due to COVID challenges, but rest assured will be as compelling, provocative, and intriguing as last year’s keynote Angela Davis.
Faculty, staff, students, alumni, community partners, and elected officials are invited to present on an array of topics during a 30 or 60-min workshop for virtual conference breakout sessions. Workshop sessions will be categorized into themes based on content. Topic themes are listed on the proposal form. A separate program proposal form for each proposed workshop will need to be submitted; the form can be downloaded from the CSQ website. Forms should be submitted by email to serviceinaction@calpoly.edu. They are due by Monday, Jan. 18, 2021 at 11:59pm. Late proposals will not be accepted. You will be notified of proposal’s status by Feb. 1 or sooner.
